The Correction of Myopia Evaluation Trial 2 (COMET2)
Myopia: The optical condition in which only rays from a finite distance from the eye focus on the retina. Also known as nearsightedness.
Correction of Myopia Evaluation Trial 2 (COMET2): Dr. Scheiman is the Principal Investigator of the Correction of Myopia Evaluation Trial 2 (COMET2), a study designed to compare the effectiveness of progressive bifocals vs. single vision glasses for the treatment of myopias in children ages 6-11 years who have high lags of accommodation and esophopria. This study is funded by the National Eye Institute through the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG). This study will begin in early 2005.
