A Distinctive Curriculum for the 21st Century
The Doctor of Optometry program delivers a distinctive curriculum, an exceptional educational program that expands our tradition of academic leadership. This new curriculum was first implemented for the Doctor of Optometry Program in the fall of 2001. The curriculum prepares competent and caring clinicians who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and values essential for career success in an increasingly diverse and health conscious society.
The mission of the Doctor of Optometry curriculum is to graduate competent and caring primary health care practitioners to fulfill an expanding role in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye and associated structures, as well as the diagnosis and co-management of related systemic conditions.
