The Gérard Cottet Library of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry serves the information needs of the College community. Located on the first floor of the West wing of the College, it contains the Center for Computer Assisted Learning as well as a spacious open study area, private study rooms, audiovisual stations, and a lounge for leisure reading and browsing.
The Library Collection
The
Gérard Cottet Library of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry has a
collection of more than 21,000 texts and periodicals. More than 160
videotapes, 9650 audio cassettes, and 100 slide sets are available, as
well as 16 CD-ROM databases and nearly 280 current health sciences
periodicals. The collection's major strength is in the visual sciences
with extensive holdings in optometry, ophthalmology, and vision
rehabilitation. Additional holdings include anatomy, physiology,
neurology, optical sciences, visual and color perception, pediatrics,
pharmacology and geriatrics.
A new area of focus is the addition of an audiology collection to support the new Doctor of Audiology program.
The Library also houses a historical collection of more than 500 books, many of which were published prior to the twentieth century.

During periods when school is not in session, the library will be open from 8 AM to 5 PM and closed on the weekends. It is also usually closed on national holidays. However, there are exceptions. Any changes from the normal hours will be posted outside the library.
Antinque Spectales & Other Visual Aids
An on-line museum and encyclopedia of vision aids. A collection of images of vision correction tools, documents, and artistic representations of optometric aids and the history of vision corrective technology.
