College signs a cooperative agreement with the University of the Danube in Krems, Austria.

Pennsylvania College of Optometry and the University of the Danube in Krems, Austria have entered into an agreement to jointly plan and implement advanced degree courses in the eye care field for relevant practitioners in Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia and Serbia.
Pennsylvania College of Optometry and the University of the Danube in Krems, Austria, Department of Clinical Medicine and Biotechnology will implement academic degree courses on campus of the University of the Danube including clinical instructions in a new state-of-the-art teaching center fully equipped by Zeiss-Austria. Both institutions will jointly teach a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Clinical Optometry as the first collaborative project in a series of joint educational projects designed to improve eye care in Austria and its eastern European neighboring countries.
The agreement between PCO and DUK (Danube University-Krems) is a landmark in the development of Optometry in Austria in particular, and in the German speaking countries in general, since for the first time optometry will be taught on the University level leading to higher academic degrees, approved and accredited by all the relevant Austrian authorities.
The first Master of Science in Clinical Optometry with students from Austria, Poland, and the Czech Republic is in progress. The next one is scheduled to start in May of 2007.
