The President functions as the Chief Executive Officer of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and has the ultimate managerial responsibility for fiscal accountability and viability of the institution; the development of new resources for the College; charting the future course of its educational programs and on-going institutional planning and research.
Because no one person can be expected to handle such broad responsibilities single-handedly, the President delegates responsibilities to senior administrators including the Vice-President & Dean for Academic Affairs, the Vice-President for Finance and Business Administration, the Vice President and Executive Director of The Eye Institute, the Director of Development, Director of Human Resources and the Dean for Student Affairs all of whom report directly to the President.
The President, as the principle spokesperson for the College, is assisted by the Coordinator of Publications and Communications. In addition, the Office of Human Resources also reports directly to the President to assist in internal communications, and in training and compliance issues related to employees.
